Introduction
You are on a mission to another planet in our solar system. You will join a crew to gather information about your planet. After exploring it, you will contact Mission Control on Earth by cyber postcard to communicate your impressions and data.
Task
To find a planet using the website and to find facts and answer questions.
Then you will make a postcard to send to the planet as if someone was going to recieve it.
Process
Who is your planet named after?
Distance from the Sun (How many kilometers?)
Diameter (What is the distance across is your planet?)
Period of revolution (How long is one year on your planet in Earth years?)
Rotation period (One day on your planet equals how many hours/days on Earth?)
Moons (How many? What are their names?)
Atmosphere (What gases are in the atmosphere?)
Temperature (How hot or cold is it?)
Composition (What is your planet made of?)
What are some special features?
Does it have volcanoes, craters, rings, valleys?
Then create a postcard to send to your planet using Powerpoint.
Evaluation
Complete your postcard and webquest show it to the teacher for credit. Then we will go over what you have learned and any intersting facts you have learned. After, the webquest is competley done you have learned about planets and we will share what others have learned.
Conclusion
Doing the webquest you have found things out about your planet. There's still a lot to learn about the Solar System?
